It's been a little while since I've uploaded anything here, but it's been busy times. A little while ago I attended a course at a painting school run by Frøydis Aarseth. Something that I have long had a strong desire to participate in. When I heard that an offer for a weekend course was available, I immediately jumped at the chance.
I am very glad I did, because not only was Frøydi's painting school a wonderful and educational experience, but I also got to meet many other nice artists.
We got to talk to each other between breaks and it was an interesting experience to see and hear so many lifestyles with art as our shared passion.
Frøydis Aarseth is a super teacher, she is an artist who knows her subject and knows how to guide her students. She is also calm, pleasant, helpful and clear. A person that you don't have to be afraid of making mistakes and helps you when needed.
She takes time for her students and answers questions when you wonder about something. Incredibly, I had managed to forget to bring a picture to the course, which was very challenging then and there. But Frøydis saw that I needed help, and gave me one of her portrait reference photos of a former female model that I could borrow. I am very grateful for that.
This was my very first portrait in oil and it was a completely new medium to get to know, but after a while I got the hang of it... I think the portrait turned out nice and choose to leave it in the state it is in as something I can look back on, especially since I've had blood in my teeth when it comes to oil painting from now on. There is still much to learn, but with Frøydi's painting school as my experience, I will definitely continue.
I will definitely return to Frøydis Aarseth's painting school sometime in the future. I can definitely recommend the painting school and wish her all the best in the future.
